About me
Hello, I’m Averil, welcome to my website! I can provide manual driving lessons in Arbroath, Angus.

Prior to training to become a driving instructor I served as a police officer for nearly 25 years, I have lots of experience in all kinds of situations - I enjoy working with people face-to-face, and most importantly, I am not easily fazed! Being a blue light trained driver, I have a proven history of driving to an advanced standard and can bring a different perspective to my lessons.

Approachable, respectful and a good listener at all times, I have a calm, quiet manner, which is really useful in putting people at ease, and which has served me well in the many stressful situations I have found myself in during my police career. This calm approach is invaluable at providing a relaxed atmosphere for learning, allowing my learners to progress safely and to achieve their goals at the right pace for them.

I am a trainee driving instructor with LDC, providing learner drivers with lessons using the unique LD system, which is very flexible, allowing me to style lessons to suit the differing needs of my individual learners.

I enjoy driving, and I get great satisfaction from passing that on to my learners, helping them to develop their skills and become safe and confident behind the wheel.

Away from work, I’m very active, and can generally be found hill walking, cycling, or, whatever the weather, on long beach walks with my wee dog.
